There are many famous South Indian Restaurants in Mumbai and the fun fact is, most of them are in Matunga. Since Matunga has a huge South Indian Population. These South Indian Places are best meant for Breakfast, but I can eat them at any time of the day.

Which Restaurant?

So we visited Arya Bhavan in Matunga for early morning break fast(for us early morning was 8:30). Arya Bhavan is quite popular for its South Indian Food and people from different parts of Mumbai come to have breakfast here.

Where’s the Restaurant?

The hotel is located in Matunga East, 2 minute walk from the station. Shop No. 9 & 10, Bhanujyoti Building Opposite Matunga Central Railway Station, Lakhamsi Napoo Rd, Matunga, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400019.

Early Morning you will find a huge crowd here. So you will be easily able to find the hotel.

How is the Ambience?

Ambience at Arya Bhavan

The place is crowded most of the time. We visited the place around 8:30 AM and we had to share a table with other people. the place is quite small and the seats are also limited.

But as soon as you enter the place you will smell the aroma of sambhar and you will get that south Indian feel. The place is well maintained, just a little diminutive.

How’s the Food?

The most important thing about any hotel is “How good their food is? People forget all the other issues when the restaurant make it up with good food and service.

Mysore Rava Masala Dosa at Arya Bhavan

We had Mysore Rava Masala Dosa, OK I might be a little biased since I am already a Rava dosa Fan Boy. So when I tell the Rava dosa is good, it is really good. I never had a Rava Dosa as good as this one.

The masala inside the dosa is quite different too, you get all the flavors once you take a bite.

By the way this post is no were related to the restaurant and they have not paid us single penny to write this.

They Serve 2 different Chutney and Sambhar along with the Dosa. I am a South Indian, but I have never seen so many variety of dosa in any menu.

I would Definitely go back once again to try out more awesome dosa’s and one of their most famous pineapple Sheera.

Final verdict:

Now, this sounds like Ramsay Gordon. I Would rate the place 4.5 out of 5. The food what we had(Mysore Rava Masala Dosa) was really good. Any time you go you will find a large crowd here. And probably you might need to wait for the food by the way the waiting needs to be done on the Road outside.

But, it’s worth the wait and an amazing place for family and friends.

If you are looking for a place to have south Indian food in Mumbai, then you should definitely try this place out and pick from the wide range of dosa’s available here. They also has south Indian style Coffee and many other south Indian dishes in their menu.

This is definitely a heaven for south Indian food lovers.
